Option to remove or "trash" untradable & unmarketable Steam inventory items.
I would like an option to remove or "trash" untradable & unmarketable Steam inventory items, mainly for organizational and aesthetic reasons.

If these are in a game, I think you can delete them in game.

If these are in your Steam general inventory then yeah it'd be nice to be able to grind coupons into a few gems each.

I don't think anything else is untradeable, except for game gifts within the first thirty days of their purchase, but that's to prevent credit card fraud, and they become tradeable later.

I also avoid generating coupons by saving my game badge crafting to the sales events.

The reason I think Valve hasn't added this is because people are going to remove stuff and then regret it. Then go to Support to ask for it to be given back.

Or their so called "Friends" will remove stuff for laughs and it too will cause a lot of support tickets.

It's why they won't let you permanently remove a game from your library. You can hide it well but that's about it.

Yeah that seems about right.
Although we actually can permanently remove a game from our libraries now. Though, once we do, one will have to repurchase it I believe.

Are you able to hide inventory items? If not, that could be a solution. Have an option to not display hidden items, then hide all items that are "trash." It doesn't get rid of the stuff, but it's at least easier to sort through the items you care about that way.

You're actually not really deleting those games, you can recover them through the same route you used to remove them.

Except some people, like me, have an item received during an old Steam sale that's for a free to play game that they've never played.

So I should waste my time installing the game and setting up an account just to delete some item I can't even sell off for 3¢. :Hatfall_Wizard:

Alternatively, just chill and let it be.

I'm fine with it, if they slap on a 15day limbo period after leaving the player's inventory. Basically it would be in escrow for Steam's trash bot. Just like the trade hold escrow system, you will be able to cancel deletion within 15 days and the item will be restored to the user's inventory in case of a change of mind or compromised account..

Now this I can get behind. It lets people get dump stuff they don't want and can't get rid of while making it much harder for a hacker to wipe out someones inventory.

the same could be said about people grinding their actually tradable items into gems, yet thats a feature. I have never used a coupon in my life. I don't even need gems for it, I just want it out of my inventory.
