normally i do not come to this part of steam.
i am sure you are correct, and it has been discussed in the past...
brace yourself, i did alot more than a book report.
i also studied, read & researched the 700+ topics in this section.
* i did not read replies to topics.
i did try to utilize search.
i was not sure if the "search function" was operating correctly
i was limited to only a few keywords to work with.
and i did not want to repost anything already said in the +700 topics.
search yielded 0 results discussing what i was hinting at.
i suspect this may be why the most common suggestion/ideas
are exactly what they are. lol will list in 1 moment.
this topic is the only one of its kind that suggests this idea and offers
ideas for possible ways to generate revenue and profit to pay off the labor
required to implement better functionality options for steam users.
and reward steam users with novelty and financial rewards.
valve improves steam functionality
adds reward system..
steam user now has incentive to also improve steam quality.
with a chance to earn a reward.
reward system built around profile, forum, market, store, and money.
i did find this..on page 41, this was the most similar post of the 700+
http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/135511455866259212/
i learned the topics of 700+ most common suggested ideas. ^ ^
after manually reading them, because "search function" was.. fruitless.. ;)
>improving profile library sorting options.
>improve game tag search filter functionality/options.

>imo...most unique/novel topic
Glados voice assistant to help people..
search,navigate, and browse steam lol
my post does echo improving forum functionality/steam sorting.
while preserving legacy forum 100% intact.
ithe most common topic theme indeed.
this topic is unique, suggesting ideas to find a way to go about
designing and doing it in a way valve and the community can mutually benefit
from financially, and novelly, while expanding steam's economy,
and extending a branch of its economy into forums too.
valve improves steam, with the most commmon 700+ ideas...
steam improves.. community is happy to have new found freedom and options.
a new reward system is added.
a new product is added.
a new steam economy is added.
and incentive is added to community to reward, and produce better quality discussion.

that is the end to my follow post.
Kind Regards,
Kind.

Different Idea now! same topic!
a possible way to do real steam rep!
market people will love it..
valves makes $, user gets public fame/infamy.
an idea born within and embraced by steam culture.
they'd love to have this. <3
steams +REP! -REP! culture.
add a reputation counter/tally in a tiny box on a steam profile.
anentirely optional choice the account owner can enable/disable hide/show.
it could be no bigger than this bracket box.
[ 4000+ REP -42 ]
a simple box, showing 2 counts... + and -
center could be VS , |, steamrep, a heart, a dog, anything.
all that is important, is it is a steam rep counter.
0.02 deduction to add a + or - count publicly on a steamprofile.
1 time per account, per profile only.
if a user wishes to alter a prior + or - rep
charge 0.02 again to alter it, or removie it.
( why 0.02? 2 cents is slang for opinon or input or advice)
only for novelty. 0.05 cents, 20.00 whatever.
the important thing is, it is a tangible novelty, the steam community thought of
and embrace in its culture.
valve could easily impliment and profit from its fruition.
and make community happy.
small bells, whistles, like that. may seem useless, and novel.
this community would still love it, and eat it up..
and its a million dollar idea by itself. overtime.
theres at least $2mill worth of idea here..
check cs:go paint cans profits...
i'm the same guy that suggested the word, for word.
the exact same way it was implimented. lol
the cs:go thread with almost 2,000 replies.
did you profit? xD
i didnt. lol

They are never going to give bonuses to make a review, again too easily abused (copy and paste something from some place). They have 400 people and there are 150 million active accounts. They would have to check each and every review to make sure they are unique and not just copied off from some other website.
Valve will not do a lottery as that would be gambling and that is illegal in many countries, and in even more countries its illegal for anyone under 18 to gamble and Valve has no way to actually make sure you are over 18 and no just getting them to sign a thing saying if you are under 18 and caught its all on you. Valve would still be held legally responsible and end up having to pay lots and lots of fines and someone might actually end up in jail.
Sending people money through steam will never happen, as that could help in illegal activities, so being able to send someone 5 bucks because you liked their post will not happen... heck I really don't see anyone giving away more then a penny for a "quality post". And this will also just invite more people to spam "hey look I made this great post, give me money" and there is also still the copy and paste issue. If you give someone 5 bucks and then come to find out, they just copied and pasted everything from some other website, you'd be ticked off.
So no, none of your ideas are any good and none of them will be used because as was already mentioned, its all been asked for before and they already have said no its not happening.
USE THE SEARCH FEATURE.
I'm surprised you didn't say, valve should give you money for making good suggestions or using the search feature.... 2 other things that are not going to happen....
---------------------
@gwars
good points throughout and thank you for insulting me at the end there.
i would not have bothered proving it wrong otherwise.
using the SEARCH FEATURE virtue signaled.
http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/search/?gidtopic=135513549091949791&q=reddit+gold+and+steam
it is the only topic.
you are correct, many ideas i wasted our time on can be found using SEARCH FEATURE.
so i do see why you brought it up. and i apologize for that.
-
sorry for not clarifying, the money is (steam wallet funds) and intended to stay in steam.
only (steam wallet funds) should be considered as the $ in the post.
all exchanges and profits i discussed should be implied as steam wallet exchanges.
the only one recieving real cash $$$ is steam in the idea.
i assumed that was common sense, and did not even consider i would have to clarify it.
lottory was a poor choice of word to describe the idea.
contest, sweepstakes, prize entry are much better words defining the idea.
many people currently under the age of 18 actively gamble novelty in steam market
on 3rd party sites, and this is an ongoing problem valve is fighting.
i did not intend to contribute to that problem.
i was only offering a reward idea.
the idea i was proposing has been done by valve in the past.

http://store.steampowered.com/news/5761/
prizes were games on wishlist.
here a link to a gaming forum, showing a quality post by a gamer.
forum readers(mostly gamers) paid +$1,600 to the forum
to flag the post with digital novelty, as a reward for a good post.
https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/2lel5s/tsm_bjergsen_ama/clu14fx/
the same idea discussed in post 1, you can hardly see being worth 1 penny.
it is an oddity for a forum post to generate $1,600+
fact is paying to reward posts occured enough to fund operation costs of the forum.
before advertisers began funding it years later.
quality posts rewarded still generate enough revenue to fund it without advertisers.
in regard to reputation systems.
videogame recommendation system thumbs up, thumbs down, can very easily be implimented into "items up for trade" profile showcase.
yes, thumbs up, thumbs down review was also exploited/exploitable, but it was not removed.
not allowing users to have that as a profile feature because it was "abused"
and never returning is proof of hypocriticle ideaology.
it can be implimented and give market traders (negative)(mixed) and even (overwhelmingly positive)
reputation.
the same reason videogame recommendation system is on steam and not removed.
is the reason it can be applied to "item up for trade" profile showcase.

it's actually what the community wants and would gladly pay steam to do it, by using the gold reward system discussed.

Kind.
