Allow purchasing to be made from other regions.
I'm a traveller and find myself in various other regions around the world. There have been many times when Ive been working away and go on line only to fimd something new has been added or another sale has started, and I cannot purchase anything!!
For the love of!! It's the 21st Century and I can purchase from any other on line store around the world without any problem so why does Steam have this outdated antiquated system?
Please look into changing your policy on exchange region purchases!!

Hey Nbillo. Do you try using VPN or proxys to your country?

I do use a VPN for watching home TV when I'm away but the Steam system is intelligent enough to combat it. It knows I'm in a foreign country.

As Hotsauce has indicated they already have support for you making purchases from your home store regardless of where you are in the world.

Hi Darren,
Yes I know Steam is world wide regionally but that is not the issue here. I want to be able to log on to my steam account from anywhere in the world while I'm travelling and be able to purchase from that region. Presently, Steam won't let you do that.

read the entire help article...

What if I spend time in more than one country?

You can update the store country each time you change locations as long as you use a payment method that matches your Steam country setting. Keep in mind that changing the store/Wallet country will be permanent and cannot be changed again until you move back to the other country.

If you frequently move between countries, we suggest choosing the country that is your primary residence.

Temporary Cooldowns:

If the store country has been changed in the last two weeks or a purchase was made in the previous country within the last 48 hours, you will receive a temporary cooldown on your account. The cooldown will prevent you from changing the store country for a period of time.

Note: Steam Support will be unable to assist you with changing your store region.

Yes I've read it all, I'm not one who reads advice half heartedly but to change country's every few weeks is more trouble than its worth!! and you have to hold bank accounts in that particular country, so its not at all practical for people who travel. Please do not forget my original post and where it was posted. 'Suggestions/Ideas'

I am not sure I understand your problem.

You said: "There have been many times when Ive been working away and go on line only to fimd something new has been added or another sale has started, and I cannot purchase anything!!"

i.e. you were overseas and unable to make purchases during a sale. Not a problem as we have already indicated you can set the store up so you can purchase as if from you home region even while travelling, and you have acknowledged you have read and understand that yes it does in fact work like that.

So what is the problem you are having exactly? It's definitely not the problem mentioned in your original post.

purchase steam wallet cards and you wont have any problems. just note if you purchase them in the SEA region, they may not work in other regions. so, just purchase a few in the US before you go and you will be fine.

Darren,
You cannot change the store country without a place of residence. Because I live for short times in hotels and aparthotels, only a few weeks at a time, I don't have an address I can use. That is the reason why I'm asking my questions. You also need a method of payment registered to that address in that particular country. I hope you understand what I am on with now?
Darren Mar 5, 2017 @ 1:12am
Not really. Why can't you just use whatever region you DO have a payment method associated with? Sure you might currently be in lets say France, but you'd still have your bank account in whatever country you started in.

If you don't have a bank account in any country you've probably got more issues that not being able to use Steam.

Darren,

I do have a bank account registered in my country of residence, obviously.
I don't think you understand the restictions there are in place using Steam if you do change regions.
As I have already said, if you change your store country/region, you have to have a postal address in that particular country, (which I don't, because I stay in hotels) and you also have to have a method of payment registered to that address (which I don't because I'm not resident there)
If you do have those two things in place, then you can order from steam without issue. If you don't, you cannot.

i get what you want. you want to travel to counties that sell games CHEAPER than your home country.. and get the games at cheap prices.

It is true that the system seems set up to make that not-exactly allowed or easy.

Just buy games with your HOME country currency instead of trying to take advantage of cheap SEA or RU prices.

~
Edit: i also kinda find it hard to believe you are wealthy enough to "travel to a new country every couple of weeks" yet so poor you cannot pay the prices of your home country for games.

Even the military does not typically station someone in a new country every couple of weeks!

And if you are someone moving around every few weeks as part of some kind of Missionary it seems like you'd have more honest good things to do while in various countries than to take advantage of their cheap steam game prices. Like.. helping build homes or something.

Nbillo,

Funds added via Steam Wallet Codes can be used in any region.

Yes, you can buy those online too. So keep your far-fetched excuses to yourself.

Please do not forget where you posted: Suggestions/Ideas. Not Frauds/Cheapskates. :DEALWITHIT:

If you are unable to make purchases in your current region, look for Steam-compatible CD Keys and/or Steam Wallet Codes available for purchase at your local gaming retail stores.
