Run Windows games from the Linux Steam Client?
Valve really need to implement a method for running Win32 games in WINE from the Linux client even if the games do not work currently in WINE. Make it an experimental option with a nice big Steamy disclaimer - we only need one version of Steam running at a time!

General list of reasons:

* Once I can get all my games running in WINE, even if not optimal, Windows will be gone!
* A large legacy of titles will not ever be ported to Linux, and early Linux games (UT99?) fail
* I hate having to learn how to crack/bypass DRM just to play games I've legitimately purchased
* Will using WINE result in a VAC ban? No official way to know since Steam support say nothing
* Steam on Linux is currently less convenient than outright piracy as the cracked games usually run better than the legitimate Steam versions do on WINE

The Linux community have (kinda) been working on ways to do this unofficially while trying to respect the EULA: https://github.com/sirnuke/steamfootbridge

Valve has nothing to do with wine, and they have almost nothing to do with the games themselves other then lunching it on Steam.

The only people who you have to convince to get games working on Wine are the people who work on Wine. They are the only ones you should be talking to.

Or even better why bother with wine, bug the developers/publishers of the games to make Linux versions.

DRM on the games is up to the developers/publishers of the games, you need to ask them to remove it.

If you want the games on linux to run better.. then yup you guessed it, talk to the developers/publishers of the games.

As to having all the games you own working on linux, well there is a very high chance thats never going to happen. There are only 2 groups of people you need to talk to, to get them working on Linux.... the Wine group and the developers/publishers of the games. Other then sell the games, they have nothing to do with getting them working on what ever OS you want.

Wow, I'm impressed on how things change in a year and a half. :)
