I personally haven't played it (was giving generic advice) -- looking further into it, it seems that's a patch that's not delivered by Steam (it's delivered by Perfect World). F2P publishers generally don't update their applications via Steam -- they generally use their own launchers to update it. There may be issues with their server.

dont patch i have a solution go to your start window at the bottem left and then TYPE in the search and right click the steam application press steam apps then go to common then go to your downloades blacklight then press it and GO REDIST and then go direct X scroll down then find Direct x INSTALL it then finally last step you open blacklight retribution and it should automatically say play then enjoy the ultimate tryhardness of blacklight fro black ops 2 if this helped you or it didnt i have another message be my friendon xbox live gamertag BangBangkilr1 PEACE OUT

i am running windows 8 and it says that it cant finish because punkbuster already exists in windows 8 so i try delete it but i cant evn with administrators permissions, I found out that punkbuster is affiliated in windows8 with microsoft so i cant delete it, any suggests???
