Steam Library Scrolling Problems
I have about 100+ games I am working on getting sorted into categories. Many were bundle purchases, so I haven't played them all to know where they go yet, so it's a slow process. I'm having problems because if I scroll down the list and click on a game, the list will automatically scroll back up by itself about 90% of the time. It's getting very frustrating. From my own research it seems like this has been happening to other people for quite a while, but there's still no fix. Any insight?

Did you find a fix for this? I have this problem now and as you said, it is very frustrating...

Also I cant scroll all the way to the bottom of my list cause it will automaticly scroll up to the top then as well...

No, months later and it's still happening. I have sorted all my games into groups which makes it a little easier, but it's still a major pain to deal with. And I have reinstalled windows more than once for other things and it's still happening. Sorry, but doesn't look like they'll ever fix it.

This has been happening to me frequently for a while now. Super annoying bug that seems to have been around for a while. I've tried googling different forums to find a solution to this, and many people are saying it's a catagorie issue. Having to many catagories or something??? I'm not about to start deleting catagories so hopefully someone figures this out.

I have an update for this issue. I had it as well, but the thing is the old steam library UI I didn't have the issue. So after testing with a old library ui, it does not scroll up. So if you can get the old library ui back up, the issue will stop.

So I have met that problem too and it seems to me that it's because I used page up or page down which selects a category (it happens to me sometimes because I map it to side click on my scroll button).
So when I scroll up or down and select a game it goes back to show le category that is selected by the page up or down click.
The only way I have found to fix this issue is to exit Steam completely and start it again :(

Almost 2023 and valve still refuses to fix this.
To piss people off a little more than they already are, please note that someone had to specifically program this function to do this. Meaning someone wrote a "go_to_top()" function and intentionally had this run when a game is clicked in the list.

This isn't a bug or an accident. It's intentional by design and is a complete and total dickdesign.

When this issue presents itself simply press the down or up arrow on your keyboard, should fix the issue.

And its still seen as local pc stuggle with free resources and you can actual call it a lag in steam client then it scroll back abit, then you just hit forward, its rare thing cant say exatly what cause this, but you dont need a client just got update and then steam fix ongoing issue and it get better optimized with in a day, its here mine has been solved wayback, and new pc meanwhile, so thing is not that simple to ID or help with.

and post and steam client and diffrent windows OS , this post is outdate no matter what, im not saying you cant get this again but compare it with 2012 is to fare away.

let me put it this way 2012 hardware pc cant be compare with 2023

Yes. I was baffled too until reading your post. Page up or Page Down selects a game and list focused/locked on that game. If it happens, check your list, a game is highlighted.

Up, down or home button solves it.

I installed Windows 11 today and ran into a multitude of problems. My Rainbow Six: Siege sky was flickering black and the Steam library kept scrolling away. I installed the newest Nvidia GTX drivers and restarted my pc. After restarting my pc and opening Steam, it seems to have been fixed.

I still have trust issues with Windows 11.
