Thanks again! Problem solved!
Importantly, they cause me serious lag in older non-Steam games/applications when forcing and displaying these overlying (always on top) notifications. I used to just close Steam because of this whenever I played other games.
I might consider keeping this on if specific notifications could be set to display in the background, especially for non-Steam games/applications, or, if a disable option were provided when "In-Game" for Steam enabled games/applications.
Cheers.
thanks again
It looks like you can turn off receiving the notifications of your friends playing games, but I cannot find a way to turn off the automatic sending out my own notifications. All my settings are private but it still sends a broadcast out to my friends list every time I start up a game.
I am self employed and work my own hours, sometimes I de-stress in the down time with a bit of gaming. I don't want this broadcasted to my friends list every single time I fire up a game.
It is a privacy issue - we should be able to choose from completely private to completely public, or anything in-between.
Agreed. It is pretty rediculous that there is no private mode to operate in...
