(Begging for Help. Please.) Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has destroyed a lot. Please send Feedback.
Since I downloaded AC:B on the steam sale of 75%, my computer has been acting very odd. I have an HP laptop with "Beats audio". Youtube will run slow, google is now, and the sound randomly works or doesn't from time to time. When I go in the control panel to test my sound, it says "Failed to play test tone." This is a known error when it is needed to reinstal the audio driver. Here's the weird and horrible part to this. All of my steam games are broken. Let's take TF2 for an example, as it will represent every other game I own on steam. It will run at the start, showing the Valve logo, but it will have no sound. Once it get's to the title page it will be extremly slow in responding to where my mouse is. Meaning it would take 20 minutes to get into a server. Once in a server it will either go slow again, (and by slow I mean very low framerate, 1 frame every 8 seconds) or it will randomly work, but no sound. This has all occured since I bought the Assassin's Creed game. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please help.

Given that you seem to be having audio problems across the board, it sounds more like you've got a faulty audio driver than any spurious correlation to the game. Without posting your system specs, we can only guess as to what else might be causing it. The lag could very well be coming from lack of disk space.

Since your sound card seems to be one of the common denominators, what is it? Also, have you tried updating its driver?

I'm also curious about your HDD's free space, that could be the other thing.
Did you download any suspicious programs maybe?

Thank you both so much for taking the time to help me get my possible fix of playing a steam game once again. I havn't downloaded anything but the Assasin's Creed game.

Sound card is IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

From his system specs I believe its an integrated sound chip rather than a card - I would go to the Hewlett Packard website[www8.hp.com] and follow their instructions for updating drivers and software for your notebook.

I'll try updating and/or reinstaling drivers. Thanks everyone who helped and took the time to read my call for help. If anyone has any questions or more options for me please post. I'm open to all options. Maybe when this is all over we can have a round of TF2. On me.
