Cant add game to library? Failed

I cant add a give i was gifted to my library, it added the gift to my inventory, but when i click add to game library it just says failed? I've tried a reboot, what else?

"Sorry, an error has occurred:

Failure"

A better error message would be more helpfull, dam lazy programmers!

Yep i tried that too with the same failed result, frustrating, i've also pointed them to this thread to show them its not just me having the problem, but that didnt seem to help either.

You should try change computer and network. Then add game to library (via steam). That help me. Seriously!

I was having the same problem and as Refty said try changing the network, I simply plugged in my phone to use the internet from there and it added straight away, problem fixed, no thanks to steams email advice.

Thanks, I tried the direct connection to the internet instead of going through the router and it worked, not sure why everything else except gifting works fine, Glad its solved, Thanks for the suggestions

Same problem, with Natural Selection 2. I am not going to do a direct connection, because that leaves you vulnerable to internet rape. (aka viruses and such, a router is meant to hide your IP)

I try Refty solution and didn't work. Also trying renaming the file, restarting, restarting my modem, try with another computer, another connection. Nothing works.
It keeps telling me "Scanning for licenses updates".

Dozens of threads, and one tired me. YEASH!

Steam is broke. Open a ticket for any possible loss issues. Refrain from buying anything for a while, or using codes, or adding to your steam wallet, or activating games from Bundle sites. Pretty much, just use steam like is was, right after it came out, to manage and launch games, and you will be fine until tomorrow.
