so i just downloaded the malware for free (i had the trail 1) and its now saying im getting a trojan.fakesig from steam files is there something wrong or what?

Malware Bytes just started throwing me this flag as well, and over on the MB forums, users are reporting the same issue very suddenly showing up with Steam. This is the third time I've opened Steam on this PC today, and the first time I've seen the "trojan.fakesig" quarantine warning.

People have double checked the file with Total Virus and it appears to be a false positive from MB given that TV shows clean across the board.

I've been able to run games even with a quarantine of the file. MalwareBytes has been too dependable for me to shrug it off -- just in the remote chance it is a problem. Avast apparently doesn't like the file either, though I haven't heard any other reports from some of the upper echelon AVs. Still, you never know...

I just saw this too from MBAM when launching a game. I'd like to see someone from Steam address this - at least so we know nothing has been comprimised.

I'm running Avast and I just got the same trojan warning. I've now got two steam dlls in my virus chest and I am not sure what to do. The malwarebytes people say it's a false positive....so should I assume that's true across the board?

IT's Avast you might as well it's a false positive by default considering how often it throws up False Positives.

Well the Malwarebytes moderator claimed they fixed the problem but after scanning, removing the files and then updating steam again I still get the trojan virus warning. I've gotta say that I am concerned that a Steam Moderator hasn't commented on the issue.

Ive got it too right after the malwarebyte's update, it seemed that this 'false positive' file only occured after the new update
