Firt use of Steam, are games transferrable?
I am considering paying to download FM12, if I do, and my dodgy laptop packsup, will I be able to re-download it onto another device? Or what if it shuts down mid download? Will I be out of pocket?

Games are bound to your account.

However, you can log into your account on any computer and download it there. Your game can be downloaded as many times as you like on as many computers as you like. You must be logged into your account to play the game, though.

You can always redownload your game. Don't worry about that. But once you buy a game, the purchase is final and you can't sell the game.

Steam is very secure and safe - dont worry about that. The only thing you need to do is set up your account - and not forget the details. Also remember to do the added security feature of linking your e-mail validation. This all but makes it impossible for anyone to hack into your account.

As the 2 guys have already said - once you buy your game it is linked to your ACCOUNT and not your pc. You can have steam installed on any device that will take it and have all your games installed as many times as you want in as many locations as you want - the only proviso is you can only be logged in to steam in 1 location at a time.

The steam downloader /updater is very nifty - especially if you are not that computer literate. When you first buy a game and install - the most up to date version is installed - and subsequent updates happen automatically. IF the download is interupted - next time you are online it will puck up from where it left off and continue.

Its all perfectly simple and safe.
