Add this information to your ticket and wait for Support to assist you. Reply times vary due to load so you'll need to be patient.
Note that in the future i fyou have Steam running already, you can change your email within the client without having to authorize it via an email.
That's why they ask for proof of purchase (Something only the ACCOUNT OWNER can have) To avoid anyone asking for access to anyone's account.
Also, having $400 on games and not a sinlge way of confirming you bought ANY of them?
If you've bought so many games on steam you should have no issue going to support and showing the proof of purchases outlined in the KB article. You will need to work with Support to recover your account and change the password.
As long as you have a ticket open you'll get the issue resolved. As I said you should pro-actively put in the proof of purchase materials in the ticket so that when it gets picked up they can run with resolving it right away.
