Slow download speed lately

im on virgin media 100mb fibre optic broadband and normaly i download at around 11.45mb sec and for a few days now any games in my libary that i download seem to get no higher than 800-900 kb/s what the hell is with steam?

Perhaps considering changing the download server, try to either pick something closer to your region or somewhere you might not expect a lot of people to be downloading from. Youcan do this by navigating to the steam tab, going into settings and then into the "Downloads+Cloud" category, and setting the download region to something else.

Can't be helped, there is no promised minimum download rate. I tend to get download speeds close to what my 100mbps connection allows for either way, and when I don't then it is still within reason, usually no less than half.

If the servers in your set download region tends to be busy, then don't hesitate to change it if it really bothers you that much. Somewhere less crowded but still moderately close tends to work just fine, occasionally better.
