Virus on Steam
I've been trying to get on Steam through the Creation Kit and through Skyrim for two hours. The platform starts to update, and then the AVG resident shield has a tantrum because there is a virus present.

It reads as :

TrojanhorseAgent3.cdbl in Steam\bin\nattypeprobe.dll

The Steam platform refuses to finish updating. If I allow AVG to clean/heal the problem, then it STOPS at 100%, flashes the warning, and shuts down the update, which I then have to restart -- and which will not complete.

false positive
When you are on a Corperate website it is safe to turn off the Virus program, then when you exit the website turn it back on if you wish. Personaly I do not use Virus programs other than the one that comes with Win7.
Definitely a false positive. It's an official Steam dll.

Disable AVG while you're performing this particular action, or make an exception if that feature is available. Could probably turn AVG back on once it's done.
same problem here, and i closed the antivirus but still nothing
Add an exception in AVG or try updating your virus defs to address the problem
when steam sterted to update i got an avg antivirus message that said steam/bin/nattypeprobe.dll was a trojan. I immediately thought of a false positive, so i removed the .dll from quarantine and completely shut down the antivirus.
Now steam tries to update but after it reaches 100% it blocks saying he can't open that .dll and closes down.
I tried deleting the .dll, restarting system, but still not working.
let's hope they fix this sometime soon.
Don't run your anti-virus programs while running programs you also trust. Not only can they give off false positives, but it's also possible for these programs to interfere with some of these files as well, depending on what terrible program you use for Anti-Virus software.

Since you're using AVG... I'm going to guess you have a lot of terrible problems.

I personally run anti-virus programs "on demand" when I'm downloading something I don't necessarily trust.
Same issue as Ygolnac above, and I did try all the tips everyone suggested -- this is the first time in a year? or so, that I've ever had this issue. I still can't get the update to finish, which means I can't work in CK and obviously can't play Skyrim.

I don't usually have any issues with viruses at all or with Steam or with AVG, this is brand new for me.
