Medieval II Total war
Hi,

a quick question: How do I activate my Medieval II Total war game on steam when I bought this game like a couple of years ago when it wasn't on steam yet? The only thing I can register is the Launcher of the game.

Thx in advance

Bump, I rly need some help here plz. I think isn't fair as a retailowner that I don't stand a chance getting those TF2 items while I still bought the game at full price.
Do you have the Cd key?
If you do, go to games activate product on steam
Yeah, but it doesn't register because it isn't like the codes steam uses to activate its games
its a code like this : 3333-3333-3AAA-3AA3
I don't think your code will work for Steam.
Yes, but that's the problem, how do make steam recognise I have the game? :P Steam Support?
dont think you can, you need to contact the developers maybe they can exchange the key for a steam compatible.
Hmm, doesn't that give me a new copy? Don't think they'll do that either :P
Like I said, the non-Steam codes are incompatible with Steam. Your best bet would be to add the game as a non-Steam game, but the overlay might not work optimally, what with the launcher and everything.
Well, I added the launcher, but that doesn't do anything. I also added the Medieval2.exe, doesn't work either. It says that I am playing 'Medieval2', which should be 'Medieval II: Total War'. Anyway, I just sent made a ticket at Steam support. Hope they can deal with the issue.

You can rename it to anything you want by right clicking and go for properties.

The reason you can't activate it on steam is the publisher has not made such a feature availble with the title, Steam support can not help you.
Well, that's the tricky part about Medieval II. The launcher pretty much works as the one receiving the overlay, rather than the game itself, as you just said yourself. Maybe try googling for a solution? (Or buying the game on Steam, totally worth it. Especially with the 75% off.)

Already tried googling for a solution, that's why I came here :P
But why should I buy the game via Steam, when I already have the retail version installed for a couple of years? Heck, I don't even play the vanilla anymore. Medieval is such a fantastic game because of all the mods available.

The retail key for Medieval doesn't activate on Steam.

You can add a third party shortcut in Steam to the retail version so that you can get the community features while playing the retail version.
