Ex-Girlfriend Bought me Borderlands 2; We broke up and she charged it back.. Account is now 9 weeks unable to purchase and BL2 gone?

She did this to spite me, what am I able to do in order to fight this lawfully and with steam? I have never made any fraud purchases and have had steam since its launch with my 8 year badge; buying every new game that comes out that is a major title.

Anyone have experience with this issue??

Just to show recent history; the charge backs given as an anniversary present (the smaller ones just as small gifts, then BL2 as the gift... and as you can see with my own card my recent purchases are near every other day... Must be a way I can purchase the game back with my own card? She refuses to answer any of my calls or texts regarding the issue.

if I was fraduantly using a card why wouldn't I have used it for Torchlight II? Perhaps because we had broken up by then and she didnt OFFER to buy it. I believe she is doing something illegal by claiming fruad.

I'm just going to display my purchases and patterns and amount spent (on a constant basis with my debit card) from the past 3.5 months; Yet a 10 dollar Steam Wallet is Charged Back, a 2.99 DLC, and Borderlands 2 (Which then has Torchlight II after which I used my debit after I broke up with her...)
- I don't know what information to give to Steam; I have her Insurance from driving her car- photos of us, her house address.. I just asked her to no response via text "I did nothing to you, I planned on getting Dishonored in a week and now I cannot purchase any games for 9 weeks; along with my Pre-Ordered Borderlands 2 being gone now- If you want to take back the anniversary gifts, come by and I'll just pay you for them please Charge them back, this isn't right"

She WORKS at a LAW OFFICE; she should know she can't do this!

I think your best bet is contacting Steam support if you haven't already; there's really not much anyone on the forums can do for you.

I haven't personally had this problem, but I am aware that Valve suspends accounts after chargebacks.

I had the same issue happen to me, friend bought me games and his card was stolen his bank undid all the charges (instead of specific), support threaten to lock me out of my account permantly for a first time offence. At least you havent been threatened by support for a permant lockout.

Edit: ofc. to be fair on the threat the games was the THQ pack (100usd) So i can understand the threat but for a first time offence it was a tad f***ing harsh imho. A simple tap and told its a no no would have been better. They didnt really even seem to understand the fact what happen even after I and my friend tried to explain it.

Like Nacimota said, all you can really do is contact support and explain the situation. I learned from mine not to ever accept gifts anymore. I rarely accept them even from family now. Because my first was my last offence. and if it happens again Im screwed out of almost 2,000+ usd worth of games lol! So moral of the story. Dont accept gifts.

Basically I need to convince my Ex whom basically hates me right now to Charge Back and just come let me pay her for her Gifts... Sometimes partners in a relationship can be MESSED UP (Didn't want to be sexist by saying Females, as anyone could do the same thing). Best practice is to not use someone else's credit card / payment method on your account. Instead, have them gift you the game or purchase a gift card (Steam Wallet card where applicable or Visa/Amex/Etc gift card).

Spoke with her father, threatened a lawsuit if he didn't go and charge the items back; so hopefully (later today, being 4:30AM) he'll go or she will go and by somepoint tomorrow I'll have everything re-instated (I HOPE he pulls through)

i like lawsuits make sure she/he (the he is the father idiots who didn't read the comment 2 comments above me!) dosen't give them back and go to an local courthouse/the nearest courthouse that is recorded and shown on TV cause i like a good lawsuit/devorce/lawsuit with relationships just do me that favor.not really but if you will tell me what channel i have AT&T so i think im done here just need to fix up team fortress 2.

I never accept Steam Gifts, the only person i'd accept them from is my Mom, well... she is the only one that ever gifts me games... BUT THATS NOT THE POINT!
Thats sad someone would betray you after breaking up, i think the aftermath of a cancellation shouldn't affect the reciever as much, but thats opinion.

well Luckily my steam account is all back in good standing; except when I repurchased Borderlands 2; it re-appeared in my game list but no longer carried the pre-ordered edition thus I didn't get the Mechromancer >.< but all in all steam support handled it very well... If only NCSoft handled it as well as my Guild Wars 2 account was also shut down (more recently)
