Stopping event notification pop ups
I'm sick of having my desktop cluttered with, and my games interupted with Event Notification Pop ups. How do I disable these from happening?

You get event notifications if you follow games. But unfollowing a game isn't quite easy:

1) Go to Steam store, onto random game page
2) Find "Wishlist" icon on upper right
3) Click on it
4) Choose tab "Followed"
5) Unfollow the game that gives you event notifications

@Kitler.paks: Yes, I think we all get that... the issue is we don't want to unfollow the games we've already spent time sorting through discovery or whatever. This is a function of Steam that needs to be addressed not worked around. I appriciate the feedback through for a quick "resolution".

A lot of people have actually been complaining about games they "don't follow" giving them event notifications. Although this is possible, I think it's more likely user error.

Good point Drift_91... I had forgotten about that issue as well but I agree with you.

"your name" -> activity -> friend activity setting, and look for the "a group i belong to", uncheck all the boxes and it should work.

@AndyAng
Holy crap! Some of these setting are so burried... I've updated mine and will let you know if I have any further problems... THANK YOU! I think there still is some concerns with people that say they are getting notificaitons from groups/games they dont belong to which this might not fix but I have not been able to personally verify it as a problem... it could be that the user doesnt realize they are actually part of that group or that they are following the particular game.

Thank you again AndyAng!

No problem, i just hope it helps.
I just made the changes, too, so i don't know if it's the good one or not.

LOL! Well it's exactly the type of setting(s) I was looking for to correct the problem... So I think its the best possible solution I have seen so far... I just couldn't find the darn settings!

Unfortnately I've had "A group I belong to: Schedules an event?" unchecked for a while now and still get popups. All it does when checked is show all the events scheduled in your activity feed. Also note that "scheduled" is when it was created, not when it pops up. In other words "when someone sheduled it" not "when it was scheduled to occur".

Thanks for the additional info Drift, did you uncheck any of the other options under Group Notificiations? I think I un-tic'ed the top two or three...

I think I have all of them checked except the events one I mentioned. You could try unchecking them all, but I seriously doubt it affects anything outside of the activity feed.

Btw, guys, don't forget to post in the thread I made to get valve's attention. This thread was kinda put in the wrong place to be seen by Valve's developers.

http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/348292787753455684/

That thread is many times more likely to get Valve to do something since it's in a section that's meant for asking for features.

will do Drift.
