Are you confusing the button with F5, which used to be the in-game hotkey for a lot of Source games? Or are you binding it in the Steam settings to your own custom key?
This is odd.
Mapping it to two buttons (say, Shift+~) has no benefit. The problem of Steam only taking screenshots when I open the overlay, change the button, take a screenshot of the overlay, then close the overlay to take the screenshot I intended only to have screenshots no longer be taken until I repeat the process still remains.
For reference, as I mainly play Team Fortress 2, I've only experienced the problem there. I'm yet to try it on my other games, but I'll report back with more if it fixes itself/worsens. Come to think of it, I'll try and remap the key to it's original F5, see how that works.
I recommend using external means to upload screenshots and then manually adding them to steam to upload. Not only will this allow you to upload screenshots for games where overlay doesn't work, but it will guarantee that every screenshot button press will work.
steam\userdata\******\760\remote\113400\screenshots
so I always have to go there and ctrl+x out my screenshots. Any ideas how to force steam to save the screenshots to my folder?
