Query with only enabling my Steam account on this user on my PC.
Hello, I am running Windows XP SP3, earlier one of my family complained about Steam popping up on their user with my account, so I want to ask if there is a way I can make it just associated with this user on the operating system.

First Query: Can I just make this Steam account used by this user on my OS?
Second Query: Can I stop Steam starting on startup on their user only?

Any help would be appreciated. =D

Update: Sorry that I didn't make this a bit more clear but having it removed from their user would be another solution if there is a way to do it, thanks!

Unfortunately, Steam does not change settings based on Windows user settings. Steam launch settings (Launch on Login and Auto-login to X Account) go across all users.

Because of this, if your family is getting a tad annoyed you'll have to stop Steam launching on login (This can be done in the Steam Settings window). You'll also want to take off the Automatic login on launch. This can be done by clicking "Change User" when logged in and then logging in again making sure the Remember Me box is UNTICKED.

What you might like to do, though, is on YOUR Windows user account set up a Steam shortcut on your desktop that makes use of the -login launch parameter. More information on this can be found here, https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5623-QOSV-5250

Thanks for the help, however I do not really understand the link, does it mean that my shotcut on my desktop for example would log on with my details? And if so, is it safe to use?

You place a shortcut on your desktop, right click the shortcut and then choose Properties. A dialog box will open. Change the "Target" line to look something like this, where "Username" is your login name and "Password" is your password: http://i.imgur.com/m5eWV.png

Providing your computer does not have a virus on of sorts, you should be completely fine.
Of course, if you do use this, make sure your Windows username is under a password, too! It's a perfectly safe thing to do providing you don't let anyone look at the details of that shortcut ;)

Will just having a password on my user prevent the other user from looking at the properties?

SOLVED: I posted the IMHO very convenient solution elsewhere on the forums: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/846939854081906304/#c846941710196132917

Moderators, please do not delete this cross-link for the sake of users that eventually find this one thread first.
