hey can anyone help me find the product key for aoe online.. since i downloaded it for free of steam idk where to find it.

Upon your first login, a CD Key will be automatically registered to your Games for Windows Live account.

If Games for Windows LIVE doesn't assign a CD Key upon your initial login, please see the following steps to locate your CD Key within the Games for Windows LIVE client:

1) Navigate to your Start menu, select Programs/Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace Client and launch the GFWL Marketplace Client.
2) Sign in to your Games for Windows LIVE account
3) Navigate to the "Download" tab and select "Age of Empires Online"
4) Select "View Game Keys" and your product key(s) will be displayed. Write the key(s) down, launch Age of Empires Online and retest the issue.

I'm looking under "All Downloads" of what BurtonJ said, and there is nothing there.
Of course not, I downloaded it through steam.

Why the hell isn't the game utilizing steam instead of this half-assed incompetent windows live BS? If steam is gonna list these games, they should have a big flag so I know to keep my distance in the future and avoid these headaches entirely.

I am SO glad I didn't buy DLC for this game. If they can't even get a simple action like logging in straightended out, AND making you even require a CD key to play a FREE ONLINE GAME, then they deserve to starve in the dark.


That said, the game looks fun, it's just not able to be accessed.

There is no section for 3rd party DRM. I am so confused. I can't find a product key in any of the places I'm supposed to be able to.

Okay guys, this is how you do it...when i can remember right:

1)
Be sure you have
http://www.xbox.com/LIVE/PC/DownloadClient
this installed And a Hotmail or (Xbox) Live e-mail account by microsoft.

If you are on XP (English hotfix only) this must be installed:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=135771 (KB 938759)

2) Go to this page, hit the Buy game button, login and you should get a confirm purchase message.

3) Now launch and login on Games for Windows Client you just recently installed and take a look in the download section. There you'll see the information you need to play Age of Empires Online, the key =)

4) Launch the game now and put the key on the game.
