NAME CHANGE
hAVE THE CORRECT PROFILE NAME IN MY SETTINGS BUT WHEN i GO TO DOD MY NAME STAYS A S PLAYER AND i CANNOT CHANGE IT ON DOD,WHEN i GO TO STEAM SETTINGS,IT HAS MY CORRECT USER NAME IN PROFILE HOW DO i CHANGE IT ON DOD?

first of all no one likes people typing with Caps Lock on!!

To change the name in DoD

1. Join a Server
2. Open Console
3. Type this: name " "
post your name between the " " and you must have the " " when you write in the console

Could it be a little simpler ? Why must if be so technical to change you name ?
C'mon STEAM - it's not like this can't be like all the other games.
STEAM please make it logical.

Yeah I agree they did the same with TFC but not for Half Life.

Tried this. it didn't seem to work. in the end i made a file ~/.steam/steamapps/common/Half-Life/dod/userconfig.cfg that said this: name "_Jayfoo_"

A more perminant way to resolve this is go to the config file and after making the name change , make the file " READ ONLY " so a server can not come in while your in there specific server and change the name
SO YOU UNDERSTAND THE DIRECTORY...
steam/steamapps/common/Half-Life/dod/userconfig.cfg
look for ...
name " exampile here "
now starting it with a "_ " may not work but try it if you must have that

Or you could just change it in the options in the game.

Can`t you change your name in the menu?

You can change your name in config.cfg or make a userconfig.cfg, making them read only did not always stop slowhacking, anyone remember squadleader (it goes stright up) who bypassed this and slowhacked anyone better than him which was just about everyone ;)

cl_filterstuffcmd 1 helps prevent slowhacking
