Mic problems. Can hear myself when I talk.
Whenever I talk into my mic on my headphones what ever I say comes through the speakers on my headset. How do I stop the repeating and yet be able to talk to others and hear them. I am the only one this is happening too.

If you're on Windows 7, right click on the sound icon in the notification area and select Recording devices; then right click on your microphone and click Properties; then click the Listen tab and uncheck "Listen to this device".

If you're still hearing it or it was already unchecked then you probably need to do a similar procedure with your sound driver software.

Sorry I am using XP
Okay, the procedure is slightly different in XP and I haven't used XP for many years so I'm going from memory here:

Double click on the sound icon in the notification area (right side of the taskbar) to open the Volume Control window. It should list several devices side by side with vertical sliders for volume and horizontal sliders for balance; if you see a device called "Microphone" or something similar, click the "Mute" checkbox at the bottom of that device.
I see speaker, wave, sw synth, and cd player
I muted speaker and the repeat stopped but will people still be able to hear me or me them?
If you mute speaker, I very much doubt you will be able to hear anything (people will still hear you, however).

Do you have any special audio software installed with your drivers? SoundMAX, Realtek Audio, etc.?
I see VIA HD Audio Deck in the lower right.

Open that and have a look around. You're looking for a setting that stops the microphone playing through the speakers, obviously. I'd love to help you find it but I've never used that particular software so I have no idea where the option is if it's there. I might look around on Google though.
Even though there is no sound coming through my speakers? I have them turned off.

I believe we have a new record! One year and two months. Pat yourself on the back, sir.
