Activate a product on Steam option

I just got a couple of free game coupon codes with the purchase of a new PC and I am supposed to be able to activate the codes under the "Games" tab but the option is not showing after I have launched Steam.....any idea what is wrong?

Click on "+ ADD A GAME..." in the lower left corner of the screen.

That option doesn't exist either.....do you have a screen shot of what this is supposed to look like?

The only options under the Games menu are the following:
Free to Play; Action; Adventure; Strategy; RPG; Indie;Massively Multiplayer; Casual; Simulation; Racing; Sports;Mac OS X

You're looking at the store page which is the wrong place. You need to look at the screenshot I posted above.

Are you using the Steam client or are you trying to do it in a web browser? Beacuse you need to be looking in the Steam client.

You'll have to install Steam first.
http://store.steampowered.com/about/
Then log in with your account user/pass
Then follow any of the screenshots MonkeySeeker posted.

Steam is installed and I am logged in....I viewed MonkeySeekers screenshot and I don`t have those tabs on the bottom left of my screen.

But are you logged in through Steam or your Browser? Steam must be running and open, thats where the options are, not on the website.

Well I was wrong all along....I am in Steam right now and am in the process of downloading Sleeping Dogs! Thanks for the advice to the newbie!
