Are you sure it's an HDMI port and not DisplayPort or Mini-HDMI?
Says HDMI right under the port.
It's on a GeForce GTX 550 Ti if that helps
maybe i should take a photo of the situation.

Take photo and remember to use a edit button instead of posting double/ triple psots, since it's not allowed.
Picture is a bit blurry but i circled what is getting in the way.http://imgur.com/9If6f

I would not shave that away, looks like it is part of what looks the Vid card in place. Hard to tell because of the blurry though. You might be able to find an adapter at radioshack for that or a cable with a smaller end. If you are using a monitor you could use the dvi port instead or get a dvi to hdmi adapter
No i meant shave the head on the cord so it would fit. Trying out the Big Picture beta and this is the only thing stopping me.I called radio shack they wanted to sell me a box for 60 bucks.

The HDMI cable head shouldn't be THAT much wider than the metal-connection, surely...?
This one from Amazon looks like it'd fit with loads of space!
Does your cable have a lot of overhang, or something? :S

YOu could carefully shave a bit away, but don't go too far or you might damage the cable or plug. I would not recommend ait and would say get a different cable instead as it would be a shock hazard.
The head on the Hdimi the Big Chunky Plastic/Rubber/Metal part is just slightly to big because of that hinge you see in the picture.

I'd say follow this advice. HDMI cables aren't expensive, providing you don't get them from a retail store, of course! ;)

Yeah I was worried about something like that.
550ti uses a mini hdmi
it should have came with an adapter

or you can get a mini hdmi - hdmi cable
