"RAGE" doesn't launch

I just bought RAGE and I've been trying to play it ever since. I haven't figured out what's wrong with the game, or maybe with my PC? Would like some suggestions on how to fix this. Thanks

Nope, it just says that I'm running it under the "friends list" for about 5 seconds, then it just goes away. Nothing even shows up, not even an error.

Okay you can try first by,
- Restarting Steam
if that doesn't work
- Restart computer
if that doesn't work
- Go to Steam Folder, usually (C:/Program Files/Steam) and delete the ClientRegistry.blob do this with Steam closed wait a minute or two and start again it should re-download your Steam Client version.
if that doesn't work, then i'm sorry that's all I have for now can't think of anything else. Also i'm leaving now it's late I hope you get it good luck friend.

Well I've tried all three of those and it still doesn't seem to work... thanks for the suggestions though

My PC specs are:
8 logical processors
4 physical processors
Windows 7 (64 bit)
Driver: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
RAM: 8174 Mb

I haven't updated my video drivers because Im not able to. The display becomes too large and U can't open Catalyst Control Center, and there doesn't seem to be any way to fix that. I tried verifying it, still doesn't work. I also tried the adminstrator thing, but it still isn't running. Thanks for giving me these suggestions, it's a big help.

Mine was lunching but going back to the desktop with game icon running in the taskbar, clicking on it put me back into the game.

Seems to launch okay now.


Windows user rights issues?
- Restart computer
- Go to Steam Folder, usually (C:/Program Files/Steam)
- Restart Steam but right click " Run As Adminisrtator"
then launch game
If that doesn't work
- Go to Steam Folder, usually (D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rage
Launch Rage Right click " Run As Adminisrtator"
If that doesn't work, then i'm sorry that's all I have for now I too can't think of anything else.

I think that I might just contact Steam and see if I can get a refund for this game. The only "rage" part about this game is that I'm raging over not being able to get this working.

Yes but the problem is that after installing the drivers, and right click on the desktop and click on CCC, it doesn't open. Even if I search for it in the search bar it doesn't open. It shows up, but doesn't run.

Too bad..Once your ATI drivers are upated the game should run properly for you, its not Steam's or RAGE's fault. New games get released,old drivers need to updated for compatiablity, thats just the way it is..try and get your 1 time refund, but dont plan on any more new games if you are not going to update, due to potential compatiablity with old drivers and new games. Your kinda pigion holeing yourself to future problems.

Once you update, CCC should be accessable through the start menu, or Right click anywhere on the desktop and select Screen Resolution to change the size of your screen after you run the ATI update. its a pretty straight forward process, unless your having other ATI installer, Windows, Hardware issues

Well I just fixed the drivers problem, and the game still doesn't run...

Are you trying to instal ATI dirvers with a Windows Administrator User account?

Do you happen to know which Ati driver you are stuck on? (current 12.8)

I happen to remember one driver that I had to remove manualy and get a clean install of the new one before CCC would work again. I used Driver Sweeper freeware.

All I can do is offer suggestions.

And from what you have described, yes.

But it is really up to you, and your ablities whether you attempt to do a removal and clean install of the ATI drivers, the process is straight forward and simple with DriverSweeper, last thing I want anyone to do is mess things up more due to user errors, inexperience and have them think that I steered them wrong. So read and follow DriverSweepers process instructions carefully if you do it. You're on your own.

I would download the latest drivers from ATI and not use the Steam driver updater..ever.

You might also even try a driver back to Catalyst 11.10 or so at the time RAGE was released

Just in case, you could check you Microsoft® .NET Framework installations, because ATI CCC requires it.

.NET Framework 4.5: not installed.

I don't think .NET Framework is your is problem at this time.. I still think it is more likely ATI is corrupt causing ATI CCC and RAGE not to work.

By the way if there is a Moderator around here. FYI the RAGE HuB Disscusions don't even load in the Steam client, Firefox or IE. Maybe its a sign.
