Football Manager 2009

I have been playing football manager for many years and never experienced a problem however recently i keep receiving a message saying football manager 2009 is running dangerously low on memory and another message straight away saying football manager has run out of memory and will now quit.

It always happens on match day after 4-5 games played can anybody advise me on why this keeps happening or how to prevent it ?

Thanks, I have saved the game before match day and tried to repeat the same matches and I cant get past the same point also because you cant save the game in between matches i cant make it to the end.. totally sucks and really annoying lol. How can i free up space??
