"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx800m -jar "D:\Games\Minecraft.exe"

You need to launch it this way. Add it as a non-Steam game and then change the path in properties I think is how I did it. Basically minecraft.exe is just a wrapper, the game itself is a separate exe. So if you just add the exe directly, it closes to run the rest of the game, and Steam thinks you've stopped playing, hence the status flicker.

Getting the same error. ''Error: could not create the java virtual machine''.
I'm using minecraft launcher 1.2.5 and it works very weird. Got any suggestions?

I believe this is an issue with java 7. Try installing java 6 and make sure you use the correct installation for your computer (64 bit or 32 bit).
