Ubisoft games won't launch
Hey folks. Just need a little help here. I've got a pile of Ubisoft games and the Uplay client won't launch. For instance, I managed to play Farcry 3 and Blood Dragon for a total of about an hour on each, thought I would be able to come back to them but now can't launch the games either from Steam or from Uplay. I tried to uninstall Uplay and recently purchased a few new games hoping that Ubisoft would have addressed the issues with Uplay in the newest update. Those games won't launch at all!! Can anyone make any constructive suggestions (other than stop buying titles from Ubisoft) that can help me out here?
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
Thanks in advance.

UPDATE!!! Just found a solution!!! I cleaned everything and then downloaded Microsoft "Fixit". I guess it restored the file path(?). Totally works great now. Problem solved!!! :)
Here is the answer from Ubisoft:
To resolve this issue, you will need to manually install or reinstall the Uplay software (which handles the online authentication in the game). Please note that this software MUST be installed to play the game, and cannot be uninstalled or disabled.

1. First, you will need to uninstall the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" or "Uplay" from the 'Add/Remove Programs' (Windows XP) / 'Installed Programs' (Windows Vista and 7) icon in your computer's control panel. It's possible that the "Ubisoft Game Launcher/Uplay" software will not be listed if you have already uninstalled it, or the game. If so, you can skip this step.

2. After uninstalling the software, you will need to manually delete any leftover files in the C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (32-bit versions of Windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (64-bit versions of Windows) folder.
NOTE: Please do not skip this step, it is very important. If this folder does not exist, please go to the next step.

3. Try resetting your HOSTS file by following the steps in the following Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034/en#FixItForMeAlways.

4. Reinstall Uplay PC from HERE: http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/launcher_installer/UplayInstaller.exe

Once installed, you should be able to start the game!

So I have been having this problem and none of the solutions worked for me, even contacted Ubisoft and they told me to buy Windows 10, imagine how I felt... I noticed that my Uplay wouldn't launch without being run as administrator so I thought I should try to run Steam as administrator so it can give rights to open Uplay, and it worked for me. Thought I'd share my solution here because I couldn't find this solution anywhere and there seems to be many of us for which the available solutions won't help. Cheers..!

Needing admin rights is only necessary if it is in the default folder. Try installing it outside of Program Files and without admin rights.

I discovered if you have an Nvidia 1030 (or worse) Flashback will not run because it needs hardware that's on 20xx series or better. Problem solved. Need to get a better video card but not just to play this game. I can wait.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
