Ubisoft games won't launch
Hey folks. Just need a little help here. I've got a pile of Ubisoft games and the Uplay client won't launch. For instance, I managed to play Farcry 3 and Blood Dragon for a total of about an hour on each, thought I would be able to come back to them but now can't launch the games either from Steam or from Uplay. I tried to uninstall Uplay and recently purchased a few new games hoping that Ubisoft would have addressed the issues with Uplay in the newest update. Those games won't launch at all!! Can anyone make any constructive suggestions (other than stop buying titles from Ubisoft) that can help me out here?
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
Thanks in advance.

Small detail: I purchased "Flashback" the other day. Decided I would try to launch it again and noticed an icon for it briefly appeared in my taskbar, then vanished.

I am not. I was just trying to do that very thing. I went on the Ubisoft forums and they were saying I should try to run the programs as an administrator (which I've actually tried a few times) and that doesn't work either.

Yes. I actually installed the latest version of Uplay and still can't get it to launch. I uninstalled it again and bought a new title (flashback) thinking it may be a bug or there might be a newer client bundled with a new game and still...nothing.

I didn't try that. I think that's the next logical step. I did update and have to use my email address to login to uplay or ubisoft's forums. I'm going to give that a shot next and delete all the associated folders.

So I did all of that, deleted files, ran the CCleaner, and reinstalled. Nada. Still behaving the same way. It looks like it wants to start up but then it just quits. Isn't in my running processes or anything...it just doesn't work.

Update: Deleted everything having to do with Uplay, ran the Microsoft Fixit utility and now I can launch Uplay....it's still version 3.2 (I guess 4.0 isn't actually out yet) but I STILL can't launch any games. Totally bizarre. I'm uninstalling those and re-installing them to see if it makes a difference....I think it probably will but I'll keep ya posted!
Anyone else having issues like this?

Have you found a solution yet, I'm having the same problem. I've re-downloaded and re-installed numerous times and reset hosts but to no avail. I even posted on the Ubisoft technical issues forum but the kindly admin simply deleted my post.

UPDATE!!! Just found a solution!!! I cleaned everything and then downloaded Microsoft "Fixit". I guess it restored the file path(?). Totally works great now. Problem solved!!! :)
Here is the answer from Ubisoft:
To resolve this issue, you will need to manually install or reinstall the Uplay software (which handles the online authentication in the game). Please note that this software MUST be installed to play the game, and cannot be uninstalled or disabled.

1. First, you will need to uninstall the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" or "Uplay" from the 'Add/Remove Programs' (Windows XP) / 'Installed Programs' (Windows Vista and 7) icon in your computer's control panel. It's possible that the "Ubisoft Game Launcher/Uplay" software will not be listed if you have already uninstalled it, or the game. If so, you can skip this step.

2. After uninstalling the software, you will need to manually delete any leftover files in the C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (32-bit versions of Windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (64-bit versions of Windows) folder.
NOTE: Please do not skip this step, it is very important. If this folder does not exist, please go to the next step.

3. Try resetting your HOSTS file by following the steps in the following Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034/en#FixItForMeAlways.

4. Reinstall Uplay PC from HERE: http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/launcher_installer/UplayInstaller.exe

Once installed, you should be able to start the game!
