AMD Catalyst Install Manager
Hi,

Whenever I try to install AMD Catalyst Install Manager, i get a "install package error". I get a event in eventlog :

Product: AMD Catalyst Install Manager -- Error 1723.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action SetInstallDir, entry: SetInstallDir, library: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\MSI5812.tmp

Has anyone else faced the same issue. I am using Windows 8.1. I have tried everything in the search links and nothing works out

Thanks

This issue just popped up for me as well. Last night I installed Deus Ex (Steam) and Blacklight (Steam). After they were installed, I tried to play BF3 and Crysis 3 (Origin, but starting from Steam). Both of them lock up and crash saying there was a problem with the game, but never told me what! Other games do work such WoW, Skyrim, and Aliens: CM. I tried reinstalling directx thinking that was it, but nope. I just now uninstalled AMD CCC and this error popped up. If I figure out what it is, I will try to let you know.

What version of Windows are you guys using? My friend had this a while ago, can't quite remember how I fixed it. Have you tried installing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables for your specific Windows version and then running Windows Updates after a restart? You may want run Redis for .NET, Windows Installer and DirectX after that with restarts and Windows Updates. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/default.aspx

Exactly same issue here. Games are crashing since yesterday, ALL games. Now can't even uninstall those stupid drivers from ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AMD. Looking for solution.

Oh already found one, format the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing.

It's because the ATI Catalyst Installer has left entries in your registry and possibly in your folder structure. First try to run the uninstall from your Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs or Program and Features. Now go to Device Manager and Open up Display Adapters, right click your Graphics Adapter and click Uninstall.

Before you restart your pc look for any AMD or ATI folders in your folders, most likely located at C:\ProgramFiles or C:\ProgramFiles(x86). Also search C:\Users\YourName\AppData\ and look through those folders for anything AMD or ATI. If you have other AMD or ATI hardware (Processor Drivers) they may also be located here so please do be careful with what you delete. Next we will be removing registry entries for ATI and AMD, again be careful here if you have AMD Processors, or are afraid to do this step, deleting incorrect Registry Entries can be catastrophic to your pc.

(XP -Win7) Start, run, type regedit or regedit32 to launch the Registry Editor
(Win8) Start Menu, type cmd, right click this and click Run as Administrator, then type regedit.

Now, click on the + sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and then the Software subentry, and scroll down to the "ATI Technologies" and "ATI Technologies Inc". entries. Right-Click on each folder and select Delete to remove them. Close the Reg Editor and restart your pc. Now let Windows Update install it's default or WDDM drivers for your system and once it's done restart your pc. Now you can run the installer program with your updated drivers. Hope this helps someone.

I have the same problem. I cannot install Catalyst Driver package. I'm running on the Windows Drivers. I always get install package failure.

I had the same problem and tried all actions suggested on different forums(including SP1 for W7 installation and complete removal of all display drivers from OS). After 2 days I've found solution on my own: just remove all installed MS Visual C++(search Redistribuable in Control Panel/Programs/Programs and Features) and then install one which comes with CCC package(in my case C:\AMD\Support\13-12_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql\Packages\Apps\VC12RTx64\vcredist_x64\vcredist_x64.exe after extracting the package). Any other MS Visual C++ package - for example downloaded from official MS website doesn't work.

I also had to install older drivers package - provided by laptop vendor but I think this problem was related to switchable graphics(Windows was using only Intel GPU and new AMD CIM was not recognizing any ATI GPU).

Never ever use the AMD driver updated via Steam. If you want to update your drivers download them directly from AMD, instead.

sorry to bump an old post, but i fix'd this error by installing an older version of the drivers then updating them to the newest version. it's a weird error, and NOBODY has a fix for any program that triggers it. microblameshift will tell you to his your vendor up every time. it's a windows error, it's missing a file or something.

all i can say is, if you get this error try an older version of the software and see if it installs as whinedows likes to obfuscate what's really wrong so you can pay an IT guy his days wage to sort threw some obscured error file that spells it out for him.
