Punkbuster B marked for deletion, initialization error, and process explorer

I found that punkbuster service B hangs on "marked for deletion" when you have sysinternals process explorer running. This causes me to get kicked from servers.

Symptoms:

You are running sysinternals process explorer and get one of the following errors
ERROR: Failed to delete existing PnkBstrB service (from PBSVC tester)
pnkbstrB.exe initialization error (in game)
cannot start - punkbuster service marked for deletion (in windows services)

Workaround:

If I quit sysinternals process explorer and use windows normal process explorer it works fine.

I tested this a number of times using even balance's PBSVC tester.

Just my experience. Shame because I much prefer the sysinternals process explorer (i use v15.22), but i guess it is bugged with punkbuster.

trie to remove other firewall or AV than microsoft and then trie
I had same problem with comodo IS and now I solved this out

thanks! just came across this thread after a long time (think months) of trouble and googling, i always use Process explorer, but would have never figured out it was the culprit without you. mucho gracias, my problems seems solved. (though i would like to use process explorer too :)

okay i know this thread is old but i need help!!!!!! i have been working on this for hours and hours and i am certain that this may be the solution, however i don't know how to run "windows normal system processor" is that a program that is defaulted on my OS or do i need to download it. i am running right now on process explorer. i am on windows 7. please help me,

what muppet said is true.

if you want to test this solution, then do not run any Task Manager while playing.

if it still doesn't work, then I'm afraid your problem is elsewhere.

Thanks Johnson-oz! I've also run into the same problems with BF4 and apparently Sysinternals process explorer (v16.02 still encounters this conflict).

At first Punkbuster services (A+B) were running properly, until I entered a game. Shortly after Punkbuster B service was terminated and the service was marked for deletion according to the Windows services manager.
When I quit Sysinternals process explorer before starting the game (make sure Punkbuster is installed properly) everything runs smoothly.

Again, I want to thank to topic starter for this, simple, yet very effective solution!

Process explorer marking punk buster for deletion?

i tried reinstalling pnkbstr.exe with process explorer on then when i turned it off and installed it again it worked fine

is there a way to keep this from happening?

Hi Hyperion sorry I been offline for a few months. I think its just a bug with process explorer or with punk buster, they cant be run at the same time in my experience. Just quit process explorer when you play the game that's what we have been doing

thanks ive figured it out a couple of days after i posted this, it works well but i forgot what exactly i did, but yes it DID relate directly to process explorer
