Is there a way to hide my wishlist?
I'd like to keep track of when things go on sale. Is there maybe another list that I can put it on that will let me track the price? Or a way to disable being gifted?

Any ideas?
Thank you!

The only way to keep your wishlist private is to keep your profile private.

And I assume that hides the comments section, screenshots, background and EVERYTHING, eh?

Seriously no other way? blah...

Yes, it hides everything. It's an all or nothing sort of deal.

You CAN limit who sees your profile,. though, but if you're concerned with people in your friends list being able to see your wishlist then it doesn't matter much. For instance, you can allow only your friends and friends of friends to see your profile or leave a comment.

You can check out the settings in your inventory. Just click on privacy settings, but none of them let you block your wishlist without blocking your entire profile.

If it is an option that you want make a suggestion asking for it in the suggestions forum -> http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/
If you get a game gifted to you, you are under no obligation to accept it. Just refuse it.

Yeah. It's my friends that I'd like to hide it from, unfortunately. I appreciate the thorough explanation.

I doubt it'd get any support, and I have yet to see steam implement anything worthwhile imo from there. Thanks anyways, though.

They always come with such nice messages and are usually for events and holidays. I have told everyone that I don't want gifts but I'm still sent them, and then I end up feeling obligated because of the intentions / kindness behind it. Isn't it rude/cruel to reject it when that much thought was put into it? The last time I rejected a gift; the person looked hurt... Would you mind if someone rejected yours?

Enhanced Steam tracks prices of the games. Though it wont help you with your other problem.

Since Steam's inception a great deal that Valve have implemented for Steam has been in response to user requests in the suggestions forums either here or on the legacy forums.

For example - screenshots + screenshot manager, the ability to install games to a different hard drive, additional options for the Steam overlay, the Steam app for mobile phones and many more small changes to the client and steam community have all been implemented after people have asked for them on the forums.

I didn't mean worthwhile alone. I meant unpopular yet intelligent. Do you recall if any of those didn't receive overwhelming support and force them to take notice? I feel I wouldn't have a chance with such minor a suggestion is all.

If that's your concern, maybe what you're wishing for is really a sort of 'watched list' or 'favourites list' such as exists on Greenlight in addition to, or instead of, the 'wishlist'. I doubt Valve would ever get rid of the wishlist, as it does tend to make more sales through gifting, but they could possibly be persuaded to add a watched/favourites type of list, maybe make it a post in the suggestions forum?

That's exactly what I wish for! You put it so much more elegantly. I will see if I can compose something to convince people and Valve that it'd be a great addition. What you've said makes me worry a bit. I wonder if it's the only list for the exact reason of encouraging gifting! Diabolical and subtle.

Ahh, I see what you mean. This is a wonderful add-on. Unfortunately, it's lacking the email notification that Steam's wishlist has.
