You were scammed. The only way you can get money (Steam Wallet funds) for items is by selling them on the Steam Market. You cannot TRADE for money.

For more information on what you can and cannot trade for, please read the Steam Trading Policy: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9958-MJDG-3003

You can report the user via the "Report Violation" link on their Steam Profile and/or contact Steam Support. There are cases where Steam Support will reverse trades, however, as it says in black and white on the Steam Trading Policy that items will not be returned.

Why will Steam not return items that were scammed?

During the trade process, Steam asks you to confirm your trade multiple times. It is your responsibility to review the items that you are trading. You first confirm the trade by checking the box that states, "Check this box when ready to trade". Once checked, you cannot add any items to the trade. If you remove an item you will have to re-check the box to confirm that you are ready. Once both users in the trade have checked this box, the final confirmation button will turn green. Both users must click this button to complete the trade. A log of the trade is also kept in a separate chat box within the trade window.

I really disapointed with steam, if you cant trade itens for money, WHY, tell me WHY, a guy can make this kind of offer? just explain that, i was like 2 months trading to get some pudge stuff, now i lost all my job, because of some steam, trading "bug", and theres more, i cant even take my itens back, dont u have a trade record from a player? the scammer probably have more accounts, so what i will report him, he will be banned, and then he log with another account and keep doing this to another guys. Im really, really desapointed. Thats all.

The only way I can see around what you have said there is for Valve to completely remove the ability for a user to send text based messages to another user, unless you are talking about a different message entirely here?

Let me get this straight, you saw nothing in the trade window and you accepted based on the fact that he sent you a message that looked like a confirmation... that he wrote down ? Valve is not liable for this... you're just not very clever.

This is pretty outdated. I think this was from back when the trade offers had a block of text above the tradeoffer where people could put a message, in this case a message pretending that the offer included money as well probably. This is exactly the reason they removed that message block.
nobody know.
