GTA IV "Failed to connect to key server."

If this happening to anyone else? Got GTA IV last night and can't even play it because "Failed to connect to key server." keeps popping up every time I go to run it. I've read that it can happen when a game is puchased by a lot of people at once and I can see that happening with GTA V coming out, but I wanted to know if this has happened to any one else rescently. If it isn't I need to contact tech support 'cause I don't like to waste $20. Thanks to any one who can answer this question.

Do you know how to uninstall programs? Uninstall anything Microsoft Games For Windows Live related.

Then go to here - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\Installers

gfwlsetup.exe and install it.

Try it now.

Didn't work. It's trying to contact the server to give me a GTA IV game key. I haven't actually been able to start the game. When I click play it tries to give me a key but then closes that window and says "Failed to contact key server.". They say it can happen if the server runs out of keys for people to use for their games.

I can't get into the game at all. It's not about being in the game and not playing, it's about no access. Period.

Glad to hear you're expreiencing the same thing, JazzCthulhu (like the name), well not exactly glad, just happy it's not limited to me. That means it might get fixed.

First, u need to install the latest Games for Windows Live > http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/pc/downloadclient

Then u need to do the following.

Whenever u have a problem with a game, visit the official game forums first, as those will most likely have the answer to fix your problems.

Also make sure your Runtimes are up to date.

Then contact Steam Support. Perhaps it is a problem with not enough CDKEYs available.
It's not the first time this sort of thing has happened.

I have one cd serial which i bought in 2009 and when i wont active now it's call me this :

Activation process has been terminated

Sounds like something's up with the activation process.

I believe Microsoft runs it, anyone want to contact them?
