Emoticon files?
You know you have those default emoticons to use at all times? The heart, musical note, etc. I remember seeing the file that contained these somewhere in the beta, but I can't seem to find it now (I actually don't know where I found it during the beta either)

Does anyone know?

Hello there,
It's located just beside the Send button in a chat window. :)

What kind of "emoticon files" are you referring to? Literally a file where all the emoticons are contained, or Steam emoticon directory, or what?

There is a file somewhere within the Steam dir, which contains the default emoticons. I was able to change/remove/add my own stuff. I was wondering if anyone knows where this file is as I can't seem to find it anymore.

Do you mean the ASCII codes that produce symbols such as -> ☺☻♀♪☼

If so see this guide -> http://chexed.com/ComputerTips/asciicodes.php

Exactly those, but there is a file that makes you able to use them as emoticons in Steam without having to copy paste them from charmap, a web page, etc.

I just had a quick look through some Steam files and the only emoticons I could find were in the Big Picture files, but I doubt that file is the one you used because it also contains text for the Daisy Wheel, too.

You don't have to copy/paste them from anywhere - just hold down the alt key on your keyboard and type in the corresponding number on your keypad - numbers are in the guide I linked.

But I have to memorize those, which I have already been trying to do for over a year now.

Give it here, please. It's worth a shot.

Okay I've done some poking around with this, and to no ones surprise does it indeed work only with Big Picture.
Still, I cannot find anything regarding the non-Big Picture emoticons.
