If i run a game directly from the .exe file not through steam does it matter?

^^ Some games take longer to load up through steam than directly through an .exe shortcut. Does it change anything by doing it this way?

It depends on the game. Some games will launch directly from the exe and not launch Steam. Other games will auto-launch steam then run the game.
