HELP Total War Rome 2 (HARD COPY) won't download or show up in my library.

So basically I've inserted the Total War disk into my computer. After that it launched the steam window that requires you to enter the Game Key to register/activate it. So I did that and it was successful. Now after that it says "You are about to install Total War Rome 2, press next to continue." So I click next and BAM it comes up with a messege saying "This game cannot be installed" with the only option to click saying "Cancel Installation". When I click on my profile it says I have Total War Rome 2 but when I click on my library is doesn't show up. So the CD won't work to download it and it won't show up in my Library so I can't download it there. When I try register it again it says I already own it. THIS IS SO FUSTRATING PLEASE HELP.

I had the exact same propblem!
But I solved it today. You must uninstall Steam altogether from your computer, and then you have to install Rome II game. When the game installs, it installs Steam again automatically, and this way it should work and the game install will complete itself. Very annoying problem indeed!

You retail copy should have come wiht a cd-key. Just register the cd-key in steam and then it will add it to your library

Note tha due to the fact that about 2-3 patches have already come out the data on the disc is more orless worthless now.

Reset your Steam files BEFORE attempting to reinstall the entire thing.

Well I really appreciate the help guys but for some reason I opened it the morning after I wrote this forum and it was magically inside my game library. Hows that for a miracle? Unfortunately though, I had the black screen issue when starting up the game. I managed to fix it by looking at these forums. Then even more unfortunately the game runs so slow in my computer that it has little freeze moments as if it was like buffering or something haha. Its just unplayable for me. I hope you guys had a better experiance!

Don't run the disc installer, simply open Steam > click Games @ top and activate your game code on your Steam account.

The disc is useless and outdated. Steam will download the game.
