You can just copy the folder with the downloaded game data in and paste it back if you re-install, that works just fine.

Steam launches New updates every now and then. It is thus impossible to Create new versions of Offline installers each time Steam client or the game updates. However, you can still have a solution by Copying your "Steam" Folder in an External Hard-drive or something of that Sort. Now, Each time you Re-format your Computer, You can copy the "Steam" Folder back to the Computer Directory as you desire. You dont actually need to Install Steam before replacing the files since Steam does Verify the installation. If the Client is not properly installed, it Just runs a one-second Directory registration so that you may use your account without the slightest of hesitations.

well thats one way thanks for the tip but why not make an installer instead... the updates only makes around 10% of the total download usually... it would be better too and isnt that how dvd games work? i have csgo which i install using the cd and it takes a lot less time than downloading the entire game..

Because then Steam would automatically download updates for both the game data AND the installer, essentially doubling the amount you would download.

Game data is kept up to date automatically, an installer is not.

you can make a back up from the installed games and use it as a offline installer...It's in steam menu as back up and restore....to restore simply point to the backed up folder and after installing it will automatically download any updates came after the backing up.the back up file size is also less than the installed size...you can get a back from a friend and use it to install as well...Hope this would help anyone who search for this in the future.

There won't be offline installers. Ever. But that doesn't mean you have to redownload games. Just use the Steam backup feature.

I understand the supposed issues involved and don't have any choice but to accept Steam's position, but there really is a use for an offline installer. I'm purchasing a new PC and would like to have everything ready for immediate install without having to wait for lengthy downloads. Of the 40+ software packages that I will be installing, Steam is the only one to fail to provide an offline downloader for its client. I would much rather have an offline downloader that was not completely up to date that to have to go through the download during my installation. Thank you for your continued lack of consideration and service to your customers. I shall, in return, continue to obtain any title I can through means other than Steam, so that I can deal with you as little as possible.

Dude, just back up all your games and the download is next to none.

You can just copy the "Steam" folder in your program files and keep it for later installation.

I definitely need it like Uplay has!
Because I download games in the place where is good internet and then play them in the place whit limited 4G internet.
Steam getting annoyed, why to buy games who does not work because steam installer makes computer to crash and make a blue screen.
ReBoot Jan 3, 2018 @ 3:22pm
Let's solve the blue screen issue, shall we? Upload your crash dumps (found in %windir%/some subfolders), look for things like "dump", "memory.dmp" or "minidumps".
