I need some IMMEDIATE help!!!!!! Please read whole thing

I have just purchased gta 4 and I have waited 3 hours for it to download, and can somebody tell me why I haven't gotten a serial number yet? im trying to activate the game and I ALREADY HAVE A CD KEY, but shouldn't I have gotten an email regarding the serial number? Support says when you purchase a game you get an email with a serial number, so where could it be? I got an email saying "thank you for your purchase" and it only includes a confirmation number!!! Is the confirmation number the code? Whenever I try to activate the game using the confirmation code it doesn't work (and of course everything was typed in correctly)!! I just want to play my game!!!! --please note I have the cd key and that is not what I am asking for

Contact support. Sounds like you bought a game that they've run out of numbers for.

the problem is, I already contacted support. And they haven't even acknowledged my question... Steam just plain sucks...

What is the difference between the serial and cd key? It's been quite awhile but I remember only having the cd key(right click game in library to view).

If you mean a serial key to register the game with steam, store purchases in steam should auto register in your library automatically. Yes, steam support is extremely slow >_<

If your GTA games were purchased through Steam, then the key is already there and applied to the game.

There is no activation process. You just run the game.
If you need the Product Key (aka CD KEY, SERIAL) right click the game name in Library and click on VIEW CD KEY to display it.

Just be sure to install the latest version of GFWL[www.xbox.com]

"Your Serial Key is printed on the back of your game manual. Please enter the Serial Key in the text entry box provided below and then press the ‘Activate’ button. Your computer will then connect to a Product Activation server and request an Unlock License." - this is literally what it says when i open the game, and it asks for my SERIAL NUMBER, not cd key, but SERIAL NUMBER
