How do you get game cards?

I got Dota 2 so I could get the cards and sell them to save up for Civ 5. But how do you get cards? If i leave the game running but minimize it will I still get cards or do I have to kepp the game open for cards to drop?

I believe just doing things in teh game get you cards i could be completly wrong or it might differ between games. You might get some by just lkeaving it open.

Dota2 is a free to play game. Therefore you will only get cards for free if you had it while it was still in beta and had made a purchase in the in-game store!

If you downloaded it recently, you will get ONE card per $9 spent in the in-game store. Bear in mind that any game that has card drops will only drop 3 - 5 cards MAX. You won't be able to make enough money to buy big games for free.

you cant make enough money with cards, you can sell a card for aprox 0.05$, so you must farm if you want more than 1$ ^^
