Is there any way to search for games by my system specs?
I have an old laptop and don't have the money to buy a new computer. When I say old, I mean OLD. ATI mobility x1200 graphics card. So I think it would be far far easier to search for games that I could play with my gf (she has a much better laptop) by eliminating every game I don't meet the minimum requirements for first.

Steam does not have that sort of search features, but perhaps this may help:

It pretty much just compares your specs to the minimum and recommended requirements and tells you how it may run. Take the results with a grain of salt, but it should be a good guideline to run on.

Unfortunately that site doesn't cover Peggle, because that's all you should expect to run on that. The Mobility x1200 doesn't even fully support DirectX 9.

? based on X700(reduced pixel and vertex shaders) support DirectX 9, Shader 2.0

this laptop will support all oldschool games based on idtech, source, source gold
hl, hl2, quake1-3, doom1-3 age of empires 1,2 (with low|middle quality, of course)
you just have to focus on the games released from 1996 to 2006

I've played and beaten Starcraft 2 and Portal 2....sooo....yeah. I wasn't looking for comment on how crappy it is, I already know that.

Unfortunately you have to remember that it's human nature to rip on others. If you posted a PC with the latest processor and video card and 16 gigs ram, someone would post, "Why do you need so much RAM when the most a computer would use is 6 or 8..." blah blah.

That's what people do. I had an older PC and I knew it's limits but that didn't stop friends from giving me crap all the time. Then I upgraded but it still wasn't good enough cause it had VISTA. Now I have a 3d laptop with a very good cpu and gpu and still get crap cause it's a laptop and not a "real gaming pc."
