FRAPs and friends voice
Hello, me and my friend recently started recording our gameplay with fraps. The problem we are having is that, ingame I hear him great, but yet when we upload videos his voice is extremly low. We ususally use the standard ingame chat for everything, as well as steam chat a couple times. I'm not sure if posting a sample video is against the TOS but if it isn't, let me know and I'll post one. Any help will be appreciated, thank you.

U can post a video to your YouTube and share here. Or simply link your YouTube account to your Steam account and a posted YouTube video can be shared directly within the files of your profile. Just like screenshot sharing.

Or simply upload that video to a 3rd party site, then share the direct link in here, so we have a way to see the video.

Here's our first Dead Space video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRZaovDCB6E

In our latest unuploaded videos I started lowing the game sounds and heard him great ingame, then once I watched it on my desktop his voice was low, even with game sounds low. It's more inconsistent then anything, but he sounds alot louder ingame for sure.

What sound card do u have?

What did u set as the Audio Capture Device in Fraps settings?

For one thing, what would help is if he raised his Mic Recording level a little on his end.
Then yours is WAY too high. Set your Mic Recording level down a little more.

I have Win7. How would I locate my sound card?

I have "Record Win7 Sound: Stereo" and Record external input both checked.

We did a test video of this and he somehow messed his mic up. We'll probably test it again though.

To idenity your sound card in Win7, click startmenu, type sys in search box, u should see "System Information" in the list of search finds. Click that, go to Components > Sound Device.

Just provide the names of the ones located in here.
As it may show multiple entries, based on your hardware.

Once u list the name of sound devices, I can tell u how to adjust your sound settings properly within Windows Playback/Recording Devices.
