Mass Effect 1 & 2 - Import Character

I remember playing this on Steam back in the day, and after I finished ME1 and started playing ME2, it did not recognize that I had any save files of ME1, so I could not import my character data and all the choices that it said I had made were all completely different than what actually happened.

Did the rest of you have the same issue? Or was it a stroke of bad luck on my part? Does it work normally now?

If it all works fine, I'm also wondering if ME3 on Origin will automatically recognize my character data from Steam? Or do I have to move some files around to get it to import into ME3?

ME1 to ME2 saves required a click of a button in the preferences program before it could find them. ME3 will recognize your previous saves just fine (if you didn't remove them already) as they have absolutely nothing to do with steam (ditto for ME1 and ME2) - All your character stuff is located in your documents folder.

Oh nice! When you say preferences program, do you mean when I right-click on ME1/ME2 in my game library and go to preferences? Or do I have to find the files in my computer folders and change some settings through there somewhere?

It should popup in the ME2 launcher when you click the 'preferences' button.

Oh! That's what my problem was, I suppose. I didn't know there was a setting for save games in there. Thanks for your help!
