Stop playing ads in the background.

I don't know if I'm the only one noticing this, but every so often ads just start playing out of no where on Steam, I look at all of the tabs, it's no where, but I can hear it, and I have to close and reopen steam before it stops. Enough with this, this isn't user friendly at all.

If this is just a bug then I apologize, but if it is how do I stop it?

Ads don't play in the background for Steam, I suggest you uninstall and reinstall Steam or scan your computer for viruses.

Searching discussions has a problem where it can start playing YouTube videos that are enbedded automatically. I'f you're heading adverts, it's probably this. If you listened to them youd probably hear the YT video after them.

i have the exact same problem....start playing TF2 and once and a while i will hear an ad playing in the background. i can stop playing on the server i was on and the ad keeps playing. i have to shut down tf2 and restart it.

i believe it has to do with going on public servers that have advertising playing when you first join sever, my thought is that it plays out the ad even after you join in match. My ping jumps up when it firsts starts, i'm thinking it is downloading the ad. once ad finishes my ping goes to normal.

i have done scan of HD and no viruses found, and my virus checxker is up to date
