Uplay CD key on Steam?
Has been solved! Thank you! :)

I have Splinter Cell Blacklist on Uplay, i have not activated yet, and i was wondering if its possible to use it on Steam instead of? I HATE Uplay.

I've tried Googling but the answers are far from few.

Uplay is a requirement. It isn't too bad once you get things setup though. Uplay used to be a real ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to get running.

Oh, you can absolutely play with your Steam friends.

Uplay just inserts itself between Steam and your game. You start the game, Steam loads uplay, uplay loads the game. You still have access to Steam features, the overlay, your Steam friends, etc.

Uplay also gives you access to some content that isn't available elsewhere.

It is one more thing to setup when installing a game but once you do, you are all set. After that, uplay just sorta works. It updates itself automatically.

The only minor gripe is that uplay doesn't close itself when the game finishes but that might be a technical limitation.

Also, just to be clear, I'm not saying Uplay is the greatest thing ever. Just that in the grand scheme of things, it isn't the worst thing around.

What store did you buy it from? I would just try and activate it on Steam if that's where you want it. It won't hurt since it will either work or not.

1 last question, since you seem quite literal in this area :P

I assume i am not able to get Steam Achievments then? As i am able to add "Non-Steam" game :(

Thank you for your help! You are a big help :)

I bought it off an Online retailer :) I'd share the link, but it gets corrected to "No spam Please"

That's a good question. I've never purchased direct from uplay so I don't know. Here's my guess:

If you activate the game on Steam, that usually means you get Steam achievements. If you're just adding a non-Steam game to your Library list then no.

Name, please? That might tell us whether you can activate it on Steam or not.

You caught me going on the door, I'm afraid. If someone else doesn't respond to this, I'll pickup when I return. (Around 3hrs)

No need to post the link. Naming the vendor would work. Most vendors will say somewhere in the product page that "requires Steam to activate" or words to that effect. If you don't see those words, the game might still activate on Steam.

Worst case, you could just run uplay as a non-steam game...which might still get you access to Steam friends when playing SC: Blacklist.

I have gotten the help from you my friend! Thank you very much! I have figured it out, and my assumption was correct. It was only a Uplay key, as i didn't click the option or the Steam Key. Thanks a lot! Awesome help.

U still wouldn't be able to. Ubisoft game require Uplay regardless of Steam purchase or not.

Games like:
Far Cry 3
Assassin's Creed III
Splinter Cell - Blacklist

Even purchased on Steam, when u click play will launch Uplay and then auto launch the game. So really makes no different, if the game is on Ubi and uses Uplay, it will no matter where u get it from.

ubisoft games dont activate on steam. You can only get a steam copy of an Ubisoft game if you buy it from steam. And as mentioned, it would require Uplay regardless.

Steam doesnt close when you close a game either.

Why would the game client close after exiting the game. That makes no sense.
Uplay games also mean no Steam tracking, such as achievements. The UBI games should have there own achievements, but it will be within your Uplay client/profile.
