[UPDATE #2] New Steam Guard feature to help protect your items

We have made the necessary adjustments to this security feature and are planning on turning it on Monday September 23rd, 2013.

The new changes should not affect users with multiple devices in the same household. If you have a device that has Steam Guard enabled in your household for 15 days and you enable Steam Guard on a new device in your household you should not be affected by the cooldown for the new device.

What this will do is force people who need trade access from multiple places/devices to disable SteamGuard in it's entirety.

You can't trade if SteamGuard is turned off.

On-topic, can you please give a bit more technical background about how the new feature works? It would probably ease a bit of the anger and confusion that everyone here is having...

I never delete Steam cookies, but still occasionally logged out magically. Please at least make this optional.

DerrickG Whats the point of that browser name it asks you to enter while logging in from a browser, I've been entering in the same exact name every single time for months yet it think I'm new and resets the timer for another 15 days, FFS.

DerrickG, why is this not optional? You're basically screwing over anyone who needs access from multiple places or devices, and those of us who had this block foisted on us erroneously.

Why is it retroactive? Look at our Locations/IP addresses for proof or something.

I've just bought a new PC for my birthday, 4 days ago, I built it and installed everything in that time, logged in to steam 4 days BEFORE this, yet I'm still locked out.
