Steam allocation error [Solution in Comments]

So I just got C&C in the humble bundle, and when I activated the code and clicked next a few times it started downloading, i immediatly stopped it and removed whatever it had downloaded, but unfortunatly, it had already allcated space for its self on my hard drive. because of this, I a now down an extra ~6GB of storage.

I attempted to install the game to see if it would fix the problem, but it simply took up another 6GB of space. My question is if there is anyway to find this allocated space and unallocate it so that my computer reads it as unused space.

I fixed it! the empty data allocating files they were in the downloding steam apps section of the main steam folder☺I've got my memory back. You too will get back lots of memory, go to SteamApps folder then go to downloading folder, then go delete the files, and TADA, your memory is back!!!! What I did was searched thourgh each folder of steam and then I sorted by size to see if there was something huge in any folder.

Started to download Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and that bad mofo is easily 25 GB. I was confounded when I updated Steam mid-install and I was down that memory.

realize this is old af now but it still worked for me while an ark survival evolved update got cutoff part way threw so just wanted to say thx to ssbmcrazy if they still play/read these forums lol
