Fallout 3 Goty DirectX Problem?

Okay, so I bought Fallout 3 GOTY yesterday night, and I installed it perfectly. Knowing the risks about Fallout 3 not being compatible with Windows 7, I bought it anyway. I do have a Windows 7 computer. Now, I hear that whenever you load up the game there is this huge bug/problem, but I have a problem before I even get to that problem. So, I installed the game, and when I tried to load it up, it said that it has to install DirectX (first time setup thing). I've waited and waited, but after about 3 minutes, my whole computere just freaks out. My computer stops responding, and it just locks up. I have to shut the power button to fully shut it down. I tried several times. I don't really know if this will help of not, but here is my computer specs:

Processor: AMD A8-3520M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.60 GHz
RAM: 16 GB
System type: 64-Bit Operating System
