Please help, GTX780M struggling to play GTA 4 and Cysis 2?
Hi everyone

Has any of you encoundered low fps with GTA 4 and Crysis 2.
My system is:
I7 4700MQ
gtx 780M 4gb (311.48 driver)
16 gb of ram,
Technically i can normally play these game on ultra or high settings without any issues (check notebookcheck.com with similarly spec laptops, with the same driver) BUT my machine can barely run them with the FPS at less than 30?

I have far cry 3 and it runs great without any issues in very high settings, has anyone else encountered this problem.
Am i missing something?

Anz tips would be much appriciated,

thanks

Have YOU ever been able to?

Notebook check doesn't have benchmarks for either of those games on their GTX 780M benchmark list. All it says is "Battlefield 3, Skyrim, and Crysis 2, for example, are playable at the highest detail settings".
30FPS is considered perfectly playable.

My mistake, its ture that there are no specific fps values on notebookcheck.com for this specific card, but there are value for older models, and they have even high fps in ultra. My card in the other hand is newer and essentailly more powerfull but it barely runs these games.
Is it normal that i can run them past 30FPS?

Keep in mind the 780M is only about as good as a $200 desktop equivalent. On a GTX 660, which is similar, you would get roughly 30-40 FPS on the Ultra preset.

Absultuly, But i can hardly achive 30FPS on high? at ultra i only achive 15 on average, thats half the values compared to what youv indicated?

Are you turning things like AA all the way up? Do you have a list of settings?

The latest Nvidia driver is 326.41, update it and re-run the benchmark to see if there is an improvement.

Just tried to install the 320.49 WHOL driver, not "compatible with machine" (bloodly manifacturer(DELL) blockes un-certified drivers)?

Try the beta drivers.

Just lower your screen resolution. I do not know what settings i used as I just load the game usually and it sets the graphics and I play. Do not worry about if it is Ultra, super great...but I believe most settings were on high and I played in 3D and still got 45 fps, but I did lower my screen resolution to 1200 something by whatever it was.....see how much attention I pay to those things.

I have the GTX 670M and it works perfectly fine for games. Playing Assassins Creed 2 on high settings in 3d and getting 30FPS which is perfectly playable. ONce again had to drop screen resolution from 1920 X 1080 to something like 1366 X ????

Whats your system? cuz i can intall the driver but when i reboot it get stuck. do I have to disable the driver signature check for the beta install to work.

I installed it yesterday, worked fine until i had to reboot, windows wouldnt start and i had to restore my computer. I have it installed again, but dont want to risk doing another restart.

Canti did you experience a similar problem, what kind of rig do you have?
