Error Code: -130 Failed to load web page (unknown error).
Loading steam pages is really slow (if it loads at all), the trading window doesn't load until it expires for the other part.

This started last night, and it's only a problem with steam, not other pages.

I sometimes get the error code: Error Code: -130

Failed to load web page (unknown error).

I may have help for some of you. I ran into error 130 today and went through an hour of fiddlign with settings, regedit, the works. The problem was that the lan settings kept resetting themselves to default, this is an internal IE 7+ security measure. However there is a problem with it, even if you are logged into your admin account it often/always ignores that and refuses to let you change it.

The way that I figured out how to repair it was pretty simple and stupid at the same time.

Find a shortcut to internet explorer.exe, even if you arent using it as your browser. If you don't know where to find it, hit the start button/windows key and type "internet explorer" in the searchbar at the bottom, itll show you a shortcut.

Now, right click that shortcut, start as administrator. This is the important bit. Once you are in IE as admin, click the cogwheel icon in the top right corner, go to Internet Options at the bottom. This is the same options menu you can reach through your windows network menu.
However, now windows knows you're an admin, and if you go back to the LAN settings, it'll let you untick the boxes and actually save them. At least it did for me.

Good luck.

I managed to fix it by just re installing Windows :P It was either that or never play Train Simularor 2015 ever again.

For Mac users; This method works for me go to Install Steam in the official website download it and just drag the application that was newly downloaded into the application folder. It should say do you want to replace or use both. The only way is to replace the BAM!! No CODE 130!

I figured I would bump an old topic because it was the first one I found through searching. I had error code -138
It turns out it was TIny Wall that was causing the problem (probably).
I did all the proxy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from the whole thread, then disabled TinyWall and it worked.
I checked the current connections, highlighted all the steam stuff and made a white list. (It got stuck so I guess I did it multiple times then canceled).
Closed steam, turned on auto mode and restarted and it worked basically.
